International Women’s Day: Favour Benson Calls On Buhari’s Administration To Empower Women More

 

As the world marks 2019 International Women’s Day, the president of Jashabel Touch-A-Heart Foundation(JTAH), Favour Benson has called on government at all tiers in Nigeria to do more to empower  Nigerian women and the girl-child as they are the bedrock and lifeblood of any successful nation.

Favour Benson who is a leading voice in the area of women empowerment in Nigeria made the call today through a press release she issued to newsmen in Lagos.

Benson specifically called on the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to do absolutely everything possible to list the Nigerian woman out of the woods as doing so is not only a way of developing the Nigerian state but also a way of making each and every family self-sustaining.

Speaking further, Benson whose NGO (JTAH Foundation) is embarking on series of projects this year aimed at empowering women and the girl-child called on the government to rejig her policy framework in a way that will ease the pain and problems of motherhood in Nigeria especially in the rural areas where poverty is endemic.

She however heaped praises on Lagos State Government, Lagos State Ministry of Justice and agencies like DSVRT for championing the cause of women in the country through their various efforts. She stresses the need for the government to adequately fund various project aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the womenfolk in Nigeria but implored them not to rest on their oars.

She also used the medium to inform Nigerian women to always seek ways of gaining more knowledge in whatever situation they might find themselves as this is key to their full empowerment.
