Tinubu formally informs Buhari of intention to contest for President in 2023

The National Leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on Monday, said that he has formally informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention to contest in the presidential election in 2023.

The revelation by the former Governor of Lagos State seems to have laid to rest the rumour over his bid to take a shot at the presidency in the next general election.

According to a monitored report from Channels, Bola Tinubu said the President is a democrat and therefore, has not asked him to stop the pursuit of his ambition which for him is life-long.

He maintained that he has the confidence, vision, and capacity to build on the foundation laid by President Buhari to turn around the fortunes of the country.

When asked by journalists on his feelings about being in the presidential race with his political ally, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who is also rumoured to succeed Buhari, Tinubu declined to give a definite response, but rather said he would not speak about individuals.

He said that President Buhari’s administration has been correcting the failures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through the provision of infrastructure such as rail lines and good roads which have impacted the frequency of fatal crashes and deaths and so on.
