Former Vice- President, Atiku Abubakar, says he will declare his presidential ambition “at the appropriate time”.
Atiku, a 2019 presidential candidate, said this during his visit to former military head of state, General Ibrahim Babangida in Niger State on Tuesday.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Atiku said he visited Niger to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the recent attacks by terrorists known locally as bandits.
“I only came on a courtesy visit to the governor and to commiserate with him and people of the state over the incessant banditry in Niger state.
“I just discussed with the governor on the insecurity in the state and from what I heard, it is a very serious and pathetic situation and it is most unfortunate,” Atiku said.
Asked about his presidential aspiration, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) heavyweight said: “I have only come on a visit; I will let you know about my presidential ambition at the appropriate time.”
Also addressing some PDP stalwarts in the state, the former Vice President said he will support the party in the state to take over over government in 2023.
The PDP stalwarts led by the state Chairman Tanko Beji and the state working committee members were on hand to receive Atiku who advised them to unite together and put their house in order ahead of the 2023 general.
He assured that he will give the party in the State all the necessary support to ensure it wins the next election and form Government in the state.
