AFCON 2021: Atiku reacts as Senegal defeats Egypt

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President has congratulated Senegal on winning the 2021 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.

Atiku, describing the match as a nail-biting game, said Mane’s penalty was the only thing that separated Senegal and Egypt.

The former presidential candidate, on his Twitter page, wrote: “What a nail-biting game. Nothing separated Egypt and Senegal but the #Mane penalty. Congratulations to Senegal #AFCON2021.”

The Teranga Lions defeated Egypt 4-2 on penalties in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final on Sunday night, to lift the trophy.

The 2021 AFCON final played at the Paul Biya Stadium, Olembé, in Cameroon ended in a 0-0 draw as both countries failed to score after 120 minutes.

However, Senegal defeated Egypt on penalties to win their first ever AFCON.
