465 DAYS AFTER LEKKI MASSACRE: AYO ADEMILUYI SET TO RUN FOR MEMBER OF HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR ETI-OSA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

FOR A VOICE IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO DEMAND JUSTICE FOR LEKKI MASSACRE VICTIMS

Ayo Ademiluyi has formally announced his willingness to run for Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in Lagos State.

He expressed his willingness at a Sit-Out held under the auspices of Eti-Osa People’s Movement at Picadilly Hotels and Suites, Ajah , Lagos State on 20th February, 2022, which is 465 days after the LEKKI MASSACRE that occurred on the 20th October, 2020 at the LEKKI Toll Gate.

Ayo Ademiluyi is a Distinguished public interest lawyer, revolutionary socialist and consummate grassroot organiser. As a Public Interest lawyer , he has represented countless communities in Eti-Osa Federal Constituency against unlawful demolition and eviction. This includes but not limited to Otodogbame Waterfront community, ONIRU Waterfront Community, Ilubirin Waterfront community , Ajah Waterfront Community among many others.

He equally participated and co-led the first #OccupyLekki Mass Action organised by Anti-Lekki Tolling Movement (ALTM) held on February 8, 2018 against the increase in Tolling fees of the LEKKI Toll Gates by LEKKI Concession Company. He is the Legal Adviser of the Anti-Lekki Tolling Movement till date.

Ayo Ademiluyi is the Secretary of the Eti-Osa Bar Forum, the forum of lawyers in Eti-Osa Federal Constituency till date. As Scribe of Eti-Osa Bar Forum with its predecessors, LEKKI Bar Forum, which was initiated in 2017, he was at the forefront of the agitation for the completion of the Eti-Osa High Court and Magistrate Court, Addo-Badore Road up till its completion in 2019.

He has equally acted as Secretary of Eti-Osa Anti-COVID-19 Collective during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in 2019 which worked with relevant stakeholders in Eti-Osa Federal Constituency towards awareness and curb of the spread of COVID-19.

Upon the outbreak of the #EndSARS Mass Protests in October, 2020, Ayo Ademiluyi played active roles in the mass Protests. As Scribe of Eti-Osa Bar Forum, Ayo Ademiluyi acted as Co-Chairperson of the Legal Aid Committee for #EndSARS Protesters at the LEKKI Toll Gate which displayed a Solidarity Banner with the #EndSARS #OccupyLekkiTollGate Protesters during the iconic days of the #EndSARS uprising on Saturday, 18th October, 2020.

Upon the ugly incidents of the night of 20th October, 2020, Ayo Ademiluyi acted as Co-Counsel with Mr. Adesina Ogunlana , the Lead Counsel for #EndSARS Protesters at the LEKKI Toll Gate, under the auspices of the Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association (RAMINBA), which through legal representation effectively changed the vitriolic narrative being sold against the peaceful nature of the #EndSARS protests at the LEKKI Toll Gate.

Ayo Ademiluyi acted as Co-Counsel to the arrested protesters of #OccupyLekki2021 on 13th February, 2021 who were arrested , tortured and subsequently arraigned for protesting the premature ruling of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution for SARS Abuses and Other Related Matters which granted LEKKI Concession Company reopening of the LEKKI Toll Gate, before the conclusion of the investigation into the LEKKI Toll Gate Massacre.

Ayo Ademiluyi also acted as Co-Counsel to the February 20, 2021 Memorial Walkers who walked in memory of the martyrs of the LEKKI MASSACRE , clamped into detention for six days and subsequently arraigned.

As a Member of the Legal Team for the #EndSARS Protesters, Ayo Ademiluyi actively participated in the rigorous year-long legal representation that led to the glamorous Report of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS Abuses and Other Related Matters which held that the 20th October, 2021 incident at the LEKKI Toll Gate was a “Massacre”.

As Scribe of the New Nigeria Network, a coalition of #EndSARS protest groups, Ayo Ademiluyi participated in active opposition to the inglorious White Paper issued to the effect that “nobody died at the LEKKI Toll Gate”.

Ayo Ademiluyi is now set to represent the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, the Federal Constituency where the Massacre occurred in order to provide a voice in the National Assembly for the Victims of the LEKKI MASSACRE, Victims of Illegal Demolition and Eviction and the entire people of his Constituency.

If elected , he will take the salary of an average civil servant and he will commit the rest of the huge pay he will receive as a Member of House of Representatives to an Eti-Osa People’s Trust Fund , which will be committed to provision of basic amenities to the people of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.

On the floor of the National Assembly, he will agitate daily for the interests of the working people of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency and Nigeria as a whole and sponsor Bills that advances the rights of workers and youth. As a Revolutionary Socialist, he will lead and participate in mass actions outside of the Parliamentary buildings of the National Assembly on the side of the working and oppressed people of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency and Nigeria as a whole for the nationalisation of the commanding heights of the economy and emergence of a working people’s government on a socialist programme, anchored on Democratic running of the economy by the working people as opposed to the.pseudo-socialist experiment that took place in the former Soviet Union and its Satellite states.
