Olusegun Adesegun, a former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, was on Thursday docked at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly being in possession of a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) belonging to Babatunde Oderinde, a retiree.
This online medium gathered that the charges against Adesegun are: conspiracy, concealing deeds, forcible entry and forcible possession. He denied all.
Before serving as Deputy Governor of Ogun State between (2011-2015), Adesegun was Commissioner for Works and Housing in the state (twice).
Adesegun was said to have committed the offence of stealing and land grabbing between 2003 and 2017 at the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Cooperation office (NDIC), Lagos.
He allegedly conspired with some persons to steal the CO and property kept with the NDIC, belonging to the retiree.
He subsequently took possession of the parcel of land at No 2, Osilaja Street, Opebi- Oregun link road, Lagos, belonging to Oderinde.
If convicted, Adesegun risks a two-year jail term.
Today at the court, Magistrate M.O. Tanimola admitted the defendant to bail and adjourned the matter till May 17, May 20 and May 27 for accelerated hearing.
