Social media personality, Saheed Shittu, on Saturday night labelled clerics who performed the funeral (Janazah) prayers on the remains of the departed Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, as “unfortunate beings” and “bastards”.
CityNews reports that the Yoruba monarch was buried according to Islamic and traditional rites.
The Chief Imam Of Oyo State, Masud Ajokidero, led other members of the Oyo State League of Imams, including Sheikh Muyideen Bello, to the Alaafin of Oyo’s Palace for the burial of Oba Lamidi.
Around 12 noon, Ajokidero and other notable Islamic clerics in Oyo and neighbouring towns performed the funeral prayers on the remains of the departed Adeyemi.
The prayers held outside the Aganju forecourt.
Reacting, diaspora-based Shittu, known for his staunch criticism of southwest clerics, said the religious leaders shouldn’t have prayed on Oba Lamidi because he died a pagan.
