Tony Nwoye, a  senatorial aspirant for Anambra North, who only recently pivoted back to the party after cross carpeting to the All Progressive Congress (APC), was said to come under the hammer due to reports and petitions filed against him with regard to his alleged penchant for thuggery, assassinations, cultism and the widely celebrated burning of the Anambra State Government House in 2004 when he was said to have led the team of daredevil hoodlums that perpetrated the dastardly act.

Also, there are reports that a prominent senior citizen from the Southeastern part of the country, who once took Tony Nwoye under his wings, had earlier submitted a petition against him that borders on a fraudulent collection of funds by false means.

reports that PDP sources confirmed that the panel took this decision to avoid a situation where the liability of such magnitude would fly its ticket and in so doing, mar its chances in the general elections.

The PDP, it was learned, is not taking any chances with the forthcoming general elections as it believes that with the prevailing mood of the country which has seen Nigerians rejecting the APC, it stands a good chance to take over power and the only way to achieve this is by presenting credible and sellable candidates with track records of service delivery and unimpeachable characters.

Sources in the PDP revealed to this online news platform that the main opposition party knows that it is in the very same position the APC found itself in the months and weeks leading up to the 2015 general election and cannot gamble away its ticket to questionable characters.
