Breaking: Senator Abaribe Wins APGA Senatorial Ticket
The former minority leader of the 9th Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe on Saturday secured the senatorial ticket of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for Abia South.
CityNews Nigeria recalls that Abaribe dumped the Peoples Democratic Party after withdrawing his governorship ambition during the week.
Abaribe was elected unopposed on Saturday as the APGA senatorial flag bearer by a large crowd of delegates at the Azikiwe Road in Aba.
The Returning Officer, Lucky Erondu confirmed Abaribe’s victory to a standing ovation from a gathering of supporters, delegates, and party members.
Senator Abaribe in his acceptance speech appreciated the delegates for their faith in him.
The lawmaker also promised not to disappoint his constituents and vowed to sustain his fight for the enthronement of democracy, equity and justice.
He further stated that he would help return Abia State to APGA for total liberation from godfatherism and despondency.
Abaribe said, “This is the time to return the state to APGA. It’s a struggle to liberate the state and reposition the South East.
”South-East needs to identify with APGA as its own and a platform to recover its lost grounds.”
Abaribe would contest against Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, who holds the PDP ticket; and Hon. Blessing Nwagba of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the 2023 senatorial poll.
