The EFCC had earlier arraigned Okorocha, an ally to the former governor, Anyim Nyerere Chinenye and five companies on a 17-count money laundering charge.
In his ruling, Justice Inyang Ekwo granted bail to the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District in the sum of N500 million and a surety in like sum.
Speaking to The PUNCH around 9pm on Tuesday night, Okorocha’s counsel, Steve Asimobi, said the former Imo State governor was still in custody.
Asimobi said, “This is lawlessness taken too far. We have met the bail conditions, and the judge has written a note to the EFCC to release Senator Rochas Okorocha, but the anti-graft agency has refused to release him, claiming that the person in charge was not on seat.”
It was also gathered that Okorocha supporters had earlier stormed Transcorp Hilton Hotel venue of the All Progressives Congress presidential screening.
The supporters had thought the embattled lawmaker would show up for his presidential screening.
