Emeka Ihedioha has broken the silence on being Atiku’s running mate for the 2023 Election.
CityNews Nigeria reports that a former governor of Imo State, southeast Nigeria, Emeka Ihedioha, has reacted to reports that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, has picked him as his running mate.
This online news platform understands that reports had it that Atiku had settled for Ihedioha as his running mate after he emerged the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s leading political party.
CityNews Nigeria had reported that Atiku, a former Vice President of Nigeria, emerged as PDP’s presidential candidate after polling the highest votes during the party’s convention in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, last Saturday.
Atiku defeated the likes of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Anyim Pius Anyim, and Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State, to emerge as the party’s flag bearer.
Although Atiku is yet to name his running mate for the 2023 elections officially, several reports have claimed that Ihedioha is the chosen one but reacting, Ihedioha said he was unaware of such political moves.
“Honestly, I am not aware of any action in that direction,” he told Vanguard days after Atiku also described the report of him picking Ihedioha as running mate as false.
