Tems becomes the first female Nigerian Artiste to win Best International Act at 2022 BET Awards
Temilade Ogeniyi better known as Tems has made history and broken records to become the first female Nigerian Afrobeats artiste to win an award at the just concluded BET Awards.
The singer who keeps making Nigerians proud bagged two awards at the award event which was held on Sunday, June 26th.
Tems became the first female Nigerian artiste to win the best International Act, thereby beating Fireboy, Dave, Major League and others to clinch the award.
Adding to her feathers, 27 year old Tems also took home the award for Best Collaboration from Wizkid’s song “Essence” which features her and Justin Bieber.
This wasn’t just a big night for Tems alone but for Nigerian artistes as well.
Singer, Fireboy also took centre stage with his incredible performance at the event.
Kemi Filani news recalls Tems had made history as the first female singer to reach number one on the Hot 100.
American Twitter music chart, Chart Data took to Twitter to share the good news of the singer’s win.
Tems was crowned the only female Nigerian artist in history to reach number 1 on the Hot 100.
She joins Wizkid who achieved the great feat in 2016.
