CityNews understands that Wike has been at loggerheads with the opposition party’s leadership after losing the PDP’s presidential primary and the vice-presidential ticket.
The Rivers State governor, who has kept mum and distanced himself from party activities, has met with politicians from other parties.
Speaking on Wike’s absence at the Osun State PDP governorship rally, Adeyanju said the opposition party has not been fair to the Governor despite his loyalty.
He stated that since the PDP became an opposition party in 2015, Wike has been the most loyal chieftain of the party.
While stating that Wike’s excesses might be extreme, Adeyanju noted that the governor deserves PDP stakeholders’ respect.
He wrote in a post on Twitter, “PDP did not treat Wike very well despite his loyalty to the party. They must all go beg him and carry him along. Since 2015, Wike has been the most loyal chieftain of the opposition.
“Yes, his excesses can be to the extreme, but he deserves respect from all stakeholders. His absence in Osun today was too loud. So also that of (Gov Seyi) Makinde and other Wike’s loyalists.”
