1. The presidential flagbearer of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi has debunked insinuation that he may be working for his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, counterpart, Atiku Abubakar. Contrary to insinuations that he may step down for Atiku before 2023, Obi said in an interview yesterday that he is contesting to win.

2. At least nine farmers have been killed at their various farms in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. Governor Samuel Ortom, who made the disclosure yesterday, while briefing journalists in Makurdi, blamed armed herders for the killings.

3. Three passengers of the Kaduna-bound train that was attacked in March have regained freedom. They were freed 24 hours after the terrorists released a disturbing video where the victims were seen being flogged.

4. Kidnappers have abducted a couple, Mr Sunday Odoma Ojarume and his wife Mrs Janet Odoma Ojarume at Sheda village in Kwali Area Council of Abuja. A resident of Sheda, Japhet Mus a, said the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, disclosing that kidnappers wielding sophisticated weapons invaded the community.

5. Hon. Sani Liti, Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Katsina State, has called for the immediate resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari for “his failure to secure Nigeria”. Liti made the call during a press briefing held in Katsina on Monday.

6. The Federal Ministry of Education has ordered the immediate closure of one of its colleges, the Federal Government College Kwali, located in Kwali Area Council of the FCT, Abuja. A statement signed by the Director Press and Public Relations, Ben. Bem Goong, said the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, gave the directive on Monday.

7. An officer of the Ondo Command of Nigeria Police Force has been shot dead. The officer identified as Inspector Temenu Boluwaji was killed during an attack on Okuta Elerinla Division in Akure, the State capital, in the wee hours of Monday.

The police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps will deploy personnel in critical infrastructure and facilities in response to the nationwide protest organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress in solidarity with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities taking place on Tuesday (today).

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Monday, declared that no State could give the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing an ultimatum concerning the construction of a federal road project. Fashola disclosed this while reacting to the ultimatum issued the FMWH by the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, as regards fixing the Sango/Ota-Abeokuta Road.

10. An Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti Division, has sentenced four men to death by hanging over the murder of a traditional chief. The court also sentenced each of the four men to seven years imprisonment for conspiracy and life imprisonment for attempt to murder a woman.
