1. Barely seven weeks after terrorists attacked worshippers at Owo, in Ondo State, some unknown gunmen, have again attacked the ancient town. Many people were said to have been injured in the attack which took place Wednesday evening, at Folahami Junction, where a construction company called Craneburg Construction Company is located.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned his Service Chiefs for an emergency meeting on Thursday (today). This comes barely 48 hours after the Presidential Brigade Guards came under attack by terrorists in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

3. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senators caucus yesterday, staged a walkout from Chambers in protest against the heightening insecurity in Nigeria. The Senators revealed that they have issued President Muhammadu Buhari six weeks to resolve terrorist attacks in the country or face impeachment.

4. Governor Nasir El-Rufai has threatened to sack all the Kaduna State University (KASU) lecturers who are currently observing the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike. ASUU has been on strike since February over the failure of the government to meet their demands.

Femi Adesina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aide has said that the lawmakers from the opposition parties who on Wednesday gave the President six weeks ultimatum to address the rising insecurity in the country or face impeachment are joking. He said they are in the minority and could not have their way.

6. Following the rising security challenges in the nation, the Nasarawa State Government has ordered the immediate closure of both public and private schools across the 13 local government areas of the State, as a proactive step to safeguard the lives of its students.

7. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given approval to Nigeria Air to lease aircraft to start operations. The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, announced this on Wednesday while briefing State House reporters after the federal cabinet meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Wednesday, described his decision to post a picture of himself attending a leadership course at Harvard University in the United States of America as not being sensitive to the plight of Nigerian students currently suffering from the shutdown of academic activities in public universities. He apologized for the post.

9. The Abia State Police Command on Tuesday shot dead a bullion van robber at Ntigha Junction, Port Harcourt-Enugu Expressway, in the Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of the State. The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, in a statement, said the incident happened around 1.13 p.m.

10. The Senate has summoned the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, over the depreciation of the naira. Reports revealed that the United States’ dollar was exchanged to N658 in the parallel market on Wednesday.
