Police Confirm Security Threat In Lagos, Takes Action
Nigeria’s commercial hub, Lagos has been placed under a partial lockdown by security agencies, the state police commissioner, Abiodun Alabi announced on Wednesday.
Alabi said security agencies were prepared for intruders who might want to attack Lagos.
According to the commissioner, the surveillance level has been heightened due to threats of attacks.
Alabi disclosed this during the Lagos State Stakeholders’ Forum on Police Accountability (SFPA)’s quarterly meeting.
He said stop-and-search was being carried out by security agents in various parts of the state as part of measures to prevent attacks and apprehend criminals, NAN reports.
The police commissioner admitted that the number of police personnel in Lagos was inadequate, but expressed confidence that community/police partnership would tackle crimes and criminality in the state.
Alabi, therefore, called for the support of traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, transporters and others in tackling crime.
The police commissioner also urged residents to assist security agencies with Intel and credible information to assist them.
He said committed police personnel would be rewarded while on the other hand, the bad eggs among them would be sanctioned.
