Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has met with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
CityNews reports that Atiku met with Wike and other PDP governors in London on Thursday.
It was gathered that the meeting between the political leaders was centered around reconciliation and the need to move the party forward.
Other present at the meeting asides from Atiku and Wike were Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, and his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom.
CityNewsNigeria had earlier reported that the former Vice-President on Monday jetted out to London, UK, to meet Wike.
Atiku travelled out of the country on Monday after attending the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos.
Wike has been having a running battle with Atiku over the outcome of the PDP presidential primaries for the 2023 elections.
Atiku won the primaries while Wike emerged second but the role played by some insiders in Atiku’s emergence as well as the subsequent selection of Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate is said to have pitched the Rivers Governor and the former Vice President against each other.
So far, spirited efforts by the leaders of the PDP to reconcile both men have failed to yield the desired results.
