Breaking! 2023: Kwankwaso Booed, Stoned In Kogi State
The presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, was on Wednesday reportedly booed in Kogi State.
The former Governor of Kano State was booed while trying to woo loyalists of the Abubakar Audu.
Members of the party in Kogi State pelted Kwankwaso with sachet water and stones during his visit to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
Kwankwaso, who had visited Ogbonicha, the country home of late Prince Abubakar Audu, returned to Lokoja to hostile reception by a faction of the NNPP.
The faction of the party felt Kwankwaso gave prominence to Audu’s loyalists who recently joined the party in the state.
Some aggrieved members who spoke with newsmen disclosed that they had waited since the early hours of the day, only for Kwankwaso to abandon them for Audu’s loyalists.
The aggrieved members claimed that Audu’s loyalists are still members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
The angry supporters did not give an audience to the NNPP presidential candidate who arrived in a motorcade.
Security operatives had to intervene to whisk him to a popular hotel in the city capital for safety.
A media aide to Kwankwaso, who identified himself as Musa Yunusa, said the action of the aggrieved members is normal in politics.
Yunusa described Kogi State as home to the NNPP presidential candidate.
