Liz Truss has been announced as the new leader of the Conservative Party and the new Prime Minister of Britain.
CityNews Nigeria reports that Liz Truss, the foreign secretary, and Rishi Sunak, the former chancellor, were the two candidates to make it on to the ballot for party members. They were candidates who came top after five consecutive rounds of voting by MPs eliminated the original field of eight candidates down to a shortlist of two.
