Azura $30m Power Deal Signatories Didn’t Mean Well For Nigeria – Shehu Sani

Former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has berated those who signed agreements that committed Nigeria to pay $30 million monthly to Azura for power.

In the agreement signed under President Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria is obligated to pay between $30 million monthly to Azura for power generated, whether transmitted or not.

The money, between $30 million and $33 million monthly, according to the agreement will be paid through the national grid by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration had blamed the Jonathan government for signing the agreement.

Meanwhile, Shehu Sani in a tweet on Monday said those that drafted and signed the agreement did not mean well for Nigeria.

“Those that drafted and signed the agreement that committed Nigeria to pay $30 million monthly to a power firm, whether it generates power or not, doesn’t mean well for this country. I commend the Daily Trust for their editorial on the matter.”
