Breaking: Saraki Reveals Presidential Candidate He Is Supporting As PDP Crisis Lingers
Saraki has reacted to the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Former Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki has broken his silence on the political developments in the country and particularly the crisis rocking his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Saraki had remained largely silent after losing out in the PDP presidential primaries which outcome set the tone for the crisis rocking the party pitching the Governor Nyesom Wike’s camp against the chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu and its 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
But in a personally signed statement on Saturday night, the PDP chieftain revealed that he has not been in the country for a while but had only recently returned.
On the crisis rocking the party, he noted that many people had observed his silence and were expecting something from him.
Saraki however in his reaction, submitted that there were times to speak and times to just productively work behind the scene.
The former Kwara State Governor then went ahead to declare full support for the ambition of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, describing him as the best option for Nigeria.
According to Saraki, “I just returned from my annual vacation and went straight to Akwa Ibom to join the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the state’s creation.
“As I moved around the country in the past few days, I got the feeling that many people are concerned over my seeming silence on recent developments in our party, the PDP. My response is that there are times to speak and be heard and there are times when working silently behind the scene is more productive. This is such a time.
“PDP and Atiku Abubakar remain the best option for Nigerians in the 2023 polls!”
