Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has said insecurity is now a thing of the past in Ibarapa geo-political zone of the state.
Makinde made this disclosure while speaking during the annual world twins festival, held in Igbo-Ora on Saturday.
Ibarapa zone consists of three local government areas, namely, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North.
The zone has in the recent past witnessed security breaches which led to the death of some innocent people and the destruction of property worth millions of naira last year.
One of the major breaches was an attack in Igangan in Ibarapa North local government area in June 2021.
Makinde has, however, claimed that permanent peace has returned to the area.
The governor while addressing the gathering explained that his administration has turned around the security situation in the area.
He added that people of the area can now go to farms with their minds at rest while others go about their daily businesses without fear.
Makinde said, “Almost four years ago when I came here, I campaigned on four major pillars, which are Health, Education, Economic expansion and Security. And today, I am glad that Oyo State has made significant progress on the four pillars.
“We used to have security challenges in Ibarapaland before but it is now a thing of the past, as our people now go to farms with their minds at rest while others go about their daily businesses and endeavours in peace.
