“Why I Can’t Buy Manchester United”- Jim Ratcliffe
The INEOS owner and co-founder, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has revealed that Manchester United owners have no intention to sell the club.
One of the highest-income earners in Britain, Ratcliffe, has previously made offers to purchase Manchester United and Chelsea, but those deals did not go through.
In an evening discussion with the Financial Times, the CEO of the chemical company INEOS disclosed that the club is not for sale.
Britain’s richest man with a reported worth of £9.8 billion said,
“Manchester United is owned by the Glazer family, whom I have met,”
While revealing his reasons in the interview, he described his relationship with the owners
“I’ve met Joel [Glazer] and Avram [Glazer] and they are the nicest people, I have to say.
“They are proper gentlemen, really nice people, and they don’t want to sell it. It’s owned by the six children of the father, and they don’t want to sell it. He added.
“If it had been for sale in the summer, yes, we would have probably had a go following on from the Chelsea thing but we can’t sit around hoping that one day Manchester United will become available.” He said.
