Ekiti : God! This fountain is dry! It is getting rusty! By Odolaye Aremu
Kete Òsíún!
Sometimes I strongly wish Ekiti had remained a local government headquarter. Her destiny, perhaps would have fared better under normal circumstances.
In that sense, the essentials of modernity would probably have trickled down from the top all the way to the bottom or vice-versa, in the image of the fountain they so long to be but clearly are not.
Ekiti as a state is a huge aberration. An elemental state of mind maybe. A state of huge irony quite likely. A state of senseless disposition, possibly. A state of a dense black hole. A shame of all shame. Ekiti is a huge elephant project. The bottomless pot of gold with no leprechaun guarding it.
The people are so conned they are jubilating the opening of an airport that simply looks better than the old Lagos-Ibadan byway. And the inaugural flight looks as horrible as the landing strip!
God! This fountain is dry! It is getting rusty!
