The Federal Government on Wednesday had requested that the case filed against Kanu be transferred to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The Federal High Court in its ruling noted that it has the jurisdiction to hear and determine the suit.
The development was disclosed by the Special Counsel to Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor in a post on his Twitter account.
According to Ejimakor, the matter before the Federal High Court is still ongoing.
Ejimakor wrote, “Breaking: Federal High Court, Umuahia denies the Federal Government’s application to transfer the ‘extraordinary rendition’ suit to Abuja, and rules that Umuahia has the jurisdiction to hear and determine the suit”. Reading of the rest of the judgment continues.”
Ejimakor on Wednesday pleaded with the Court to order the return of the IPOB leader to Kenya where he was abducted or the United Kingdom, the country where he resides.
The special counsel to Kanu challenged the abduction and extraordinary rendition of the IPOB leader from Kenya.
