Put Obasanjo’s Image On Re-designed Naira Note – Atiku Tells CBN

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has praised former President Olusegun Obasanjo for his efforts in nation-building in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

The former Vice President while commending Obasanjo said he is not surprised by the ability of the former Nigerian leader with whom he served for eight years.

According to him, Obasanjo deserves to be one of the faces on the new naira note the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is designing for his efforts at making the country better.

He added that his former principal also deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.

CityNews reports he made the submission in commendation of the role played by Obasanjo in brokering a peace deal in Ethiopia.

This is as the Ethiopian government, On Wednesday, agreed to end the two-year conflict with rebel forces in the country’s northern Tigray region after a meeting in South Africa, convened by the African Union (AU) through Obasanjo who is the AU envoy on the matter.

Reacting to the development, Atiku took to his Twitter account on Saturday morning where he described Obasanjo as a blessing to Africa.
He wrote: “I celebrate the extraordinary prowess of His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in bringing peace to Ethiopia. I am not surprised. I know my boss. He did the same thing in Liberia and São Tomé and Príncipe during our time in office.“If for nothing else, he is most deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize, and I will nominate him when entries are open for nominations.

“Africa is blessed to have a statesman of such impeccable democratic credentials as Chief Obasanjo. A man whose image ought to be in the redesigned Naira note to inspire future generations of Nigerians to sacrifice for their nation and continent.
