Breaking! KWASU Vice Chancellor, Muhammed Mustapha-Akanbi Is Dead

The Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Prof. Muhammed Mustapha-Akanbi (SAN), is dead.

CityNews understands the scholar and administrator died on Sunday, 20th November after a protracted illness.

Confirming the death, the Registrar of KWASU, Mrs. Kikelomo Salle in a statement on Sunday commiserated with the family of the deceased and the University community.

”We urge everyone to remember his immediate and extended family, and the University in prayers in this very trying time.

”Burial arrangement will be announced soon,” Salle said.

Also, the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ilorin branch has confirmed the death of the VC.

The NBA statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Ridwan Musa added that Prof. Akanbi would be buried on Monday (today) in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The statement reads: “This is to inform you that our own Prof. Muhammed Mustapha-Akanbi, SAN, died today 20th November, 2022.

‘The Janāzah pray will be offered on his remains immediately after Salatul-‘Asr tomorrow at his residence in Ilorin, Kwara State”.

Prof Akanbi is the first son of the late pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practice and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Justice Mustapha Akanbi.

He became the Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Malete in 2019.
