Aisha Buhari: Police React To Alleged Arrest Of Jigawa Student
The Jigawa State Police Command has reacted to news of the arrest of Aminu Muhammad, a 500-level student of the Federal University, Dutse over a tweet he made concerning the First Lady, Aisha Buhari.
Aminu had made a tweet apparently mocking the stature of Mrs. Aisha.
The tweet which was written in Hausa and accompanied by a photo of the first lady, read in English, “Mama has eaten poor people’s money and is now full.
Muhammed was reportedly arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) and this has generated a lot of backlash from Nigerians.
One of those who condemned the actions of the DSS was a lawyer, Inibehe Effiong.
He tweeted, “You are defending Aisha Buhari because she’s someone’s mother. This argument is preposterous. Thousands have lost their mothers to the incompetence and cruelty of the Buhari regime. Thousands have been orphaned by the corruption in management of funds meant to combat terrorism.”
Also EndSARS activist, Aisha Yesufu berated the government for hushing the voice of an aggrieved citizen.
She wrote“Who is Aisha Buhari that an aggrieved citizen cannot talk about? Those of you talking about her so-called powers need to ask yourselves whether you are citizens or slaves.Duniya budurwar wawa!”
However, When Punch reached out to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu he said he was not aware.
“We didn’t make the arrest. An arrest cannot be made in my area without me being informed,” he said.
