Governor Adeleke Dissolves All Non-statutory Boards In Osun
Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered the immediate dissolution of all non-statutory boards in Osun State.
CityNews Nigeria reports that the governor gave the directive on Tuesday in a statement handed to newsmen by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
The directive conveyed to Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, reads: “As a follow-up to the pronouncement by Gov. Ademola Adeleke on November 27, 2022, all non-statutory Boards, Commissions and Parastatals, including those of Tertiary Institutions (with exception of UNIOSUN), are hereby dissolved in the state forthwith.
“Consequently, all Accounting Officers of such Boards, Parastatals and Commissions are to take charge with immediate effect.”
This is one of the steps Adeleke has taken hours after his inauguration as Osun State Governor on Sunday.
Adeleke Speaks On Sacking 12,000 Workers, Three Monarchs
Meanwhile, Adeleke has debunked reversing the appointment of 12,000 workers and dethroning three monarchs in the state.
The Governor’s spokesperson, Rasheed in a statement released on Monday in Osogbo, the state capital, disclosed that Adeleke sacked 12,000 workers.
He said all appointments made in any capacity in all the ministries, departments, agencies, commissions, boards, and parastatals after July 17 are reversed.
Rasheed also said the governor has ordered the dethronement of three monarchs, which includes the Owa of Igbajo, Aree of Iree, and Akinrun of Ikirun.
He said the governor also directed security agents to take over the palaces of the three traditional rulers to avoid further breakdown of law and order, saying that the directive was contained in the Executive order signed by the governor on Monday.
There Was Never A Sack Of Any Worker
However, contrary to his first statement, Rasheed while speaking on a talk show programme on Rave FM in Osogbo, said there was never a sack of any worker or dethronement of traditional rulers.
According to him, the new administration of Adeleke only set up a review panel to look into the number of people employed during the previous administration of Gboyega, Oyetola.
He said: “There was never sack of any worker or traditional ruler. We only set up a review panel. It is impossible to sack and put a review panel in place.
“The review panel looks at the numbers of the people employed, due processes of the employment, and qualification, among other things.
‘’Before our taking over, there were issues of backdating of employment, even till last year. So order 1-5 will be operationalized by order six which are the panels.
“Those that were employed from July 17 till our takeover are still at work presently, they have not been sacked. The staff audit will review the employment. Within 4 hours, Adeleke has dismantled the illegality of 4 months, all the bobby traps he has dismantled them.“
