A former Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Babachir Lawal, has dared his party to “sack” him for supporting Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 election.
Lawal was speaking on Monday at an interactive session between Obi and north-eastern stakeholders in Abuja, the Nigerian capital city.
“I am in APC and a member of the Board of Trustees of the party, but I am doing the Peter Obi/Yusuf Datti movement.
“The APC has not sacked me yet. I don’t know what they are waiting for.
“We want (Obi) to win this election and must win this election,” Lawal said.
Recall that Lawal — protesting the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket — announced his support for Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and ex-vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the Adamawa-born politician, he chose Obi after a painstaking review of the 2023 presidential candidates.
