A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Sowunmi, has blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the controversy surrounding the health status of its Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Sowunmi said the former Lagos State Governor and his party made his health status an issue over undue publicity.

The PDP chieftain stated that Tinubu and his party chose to convert his knee surgery and his recuperation in London into a big event when he started receiving APC members.

He said: “Bola Tinubu and his team made his health status an issue when they chose to convert his knee surgery into a big event. The candidate began to go on public engagements, he was fidgeting and making mistakes that he should not make.

“If it is like that, they have to look at themselves in the mirror and know they caused it for themselves and not begin to stay in a foreign land and pretend as if all the other organisations within cannot question them. They need to come back home and start attending events.”

The governorship aspirant in Ogun State also slammed the APC presidential candidate for shunning debates organised by media organisations.

Sowunmi stated despite Atiku’s busy schedule, he still takes out time to attend debates, stressing that the PDP flagbearer doesn’t shun debates.
