Lagos Senator, Remi Tinubu who is the wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu has cautioned Nigerian youths on the dangers of relying too much on information gotten from social media.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Onikan Stadium during a rally organized by the APC South-West Women in Lagos State, Mrs Tinubu warned that information on social media could have been doctored.
She added that for the youths to know the truth, it is advisable not to rely exclusively on technology or social media but to seek proper information.
Tinubu warned the youths against being used as tools for political propaganda.
The former Lagos State first lady was captured making her mind known in a video shared on the micro-blogging site, Twitter by the Iyaloja-General of Market Women Association, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo.
She said while addressing a crowd of supporters at the stadium; “The youth of Lagos State and of Nigeria, I address you. Social media is good but it’s good for you to seek for proper information.
“You always rely on the technology so much that you don’t really know the truth. The truth is doctored on technology. When you want to know people, the technology too will give you the right information.”
Her remarks come barely two days after the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu during an interaction at Chatham House, debunked allegations of ill-gotten wealth or fake results and work background.
