1. President Muhammadu Buhari has described the insinuation that he is no longer alive but that a ‘Jibril Aminu from Sudan’ is the person currently directing affairs in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as a joke that is not funny. The President said this in a documentary titled, ‘Essential Muhammadu Buhari’ shown on Friday night at a private dinner in the State House.
2. A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus has described the sealing of the Atiku/Okowa campaign office in Port Harcourt by the Rivers State Government as childish behaviour and abuse of power. Secondus said people in positions of authority must bear in mind that power is transient and that no matter how long, every individual would give account of their stewardship to God.
3. Gunmen have abducted four students of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, and the driver of their vehicle, along Akunnu-Ajowa Road in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State on Friday. The students were said to be travelling home for the Yuletide before the hoodlums waylaid them on the road and dragged them into the bush.
4. A male adult and a female child died in a road accident on Saturday at the Curtis filling station along Nteje-Awka Expressway, Anambra State. The incident involved two vehicles, a commercial Toyota Hiace bus marked AGL552JT and a commercial Daf/truck with no registration number.
5. Four teenage girls have been rescued from child traffickers through the intervention of the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo. The girls, who are between the ages of 13 and 15, all hail from Akwa Ibom State. They were said to have been taken to Agbor, Delta State, before being brought to a motor park in Anambra State on their route to another destination.
6. Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has said that the agitation for inclusiveness, fairness and equity by the group of five governors (G-5) led by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, is not just about 2023 elections but efforts to strengthen mutual trust and fairness to all parts of the country.
7. The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has advised politicians and political office holders to shun violence. CAN in a statement yesterday urged politicians to always note that the 2023 elections is not a do-or-die affair. It also called on Nigerians to vote God-fearing people into offices in the forthcoming elections.
8. President Muhammadu Buhari has said he will not miss Aso Rock much because he is being harassed, noting that his efforts to make the country better is not good enough and appreciated by some people. Buhari made this assertion while speaking at a private dinner organised by his family and very close associates on Friday, to celebrate his 80th birthday.
9. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep Femi Gbajabiamila says the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) , Sen. Bola Tinubu will serve the interests of all parts of Nigeria if elected in 2023. Gbajabiamila made the statement on Saturday in Lagos, while speaking at the Surulere Constituency 2 APC town hall meeting.
10. The Cross River State Police Command, on Saturday, foiled a bank robbery while smashing a 9-man armed robbery gang terrorising residents of some areas in Calabar, the State capital. It was gathered that the suspected bank robbery syndicate has been carrying out their nefarious operations around EPZ, Harbor road, Ikot Ansa, as well as Esuk Utan.
