Atiku Reacts To Killing Of Lagos Lawyer, Bolanle Raheem

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the killing of a Lagos-based pregnant lawyer, Bolanle Raheem.

Recall that Raheem was killed on Christmas day by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Drambi Vandi around the Ajah area of Lagos State.

She was said to be returning from church in the company of her husband when she was shot and killed by the officer attached to Ajiwe Police Station.

Reacting in a statement via his Twitter handle on Monday, Atiku described the murder of the lawyer as heartbreaking and that the sad incident should be condemned by all Nigerians.

The PDP flagbearer said the latest shooting calls to attention the urgent need for Police reforms that will sanitise the Force and bring it in line with best policing practices.

The former Vice President urged the police authorities and the Justice system to expedite action on the matter, as justice delayed is justice denied.

According to the PDP flagbearer, the prosecution of the errant officer will serve as a deterrent to the incidents of the irresponsible shooting of innocent citizens by law enforcement agents.

He, therefore, expressed his deepest condolences to the family, friends, and the Nigeria Bar Association, (NBA) in particular its Lagos chapter.
