Nigerian rapper and human right activist, Folarin Falana better known as Falz has written an open letter to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the death of Lagos based Lawyer, Bolanle Raheem.
CityNews Nigeria recallsthat on Christmas day, 25th December 2022, a police officer attached to the Ajiwe Police Station in the Lekki-Ajah area of Lagos State identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dambri Vandi shot and killed Bolanle Raheem.
Bolanle’s untimely death has sparked reactions from different authorities from state and federal levels promising justice.
Reacting to the killing of Bolanle, Falz took to his twitter page to pen an open letter to Governor Snwolu-Olu demanding for justice and transparency.
The human rights activist did not fail to remind the Governor about all that went down during the EndSars protest in the state and how youth were tagged troublemakers for demanding for better governance and right treatment for law enforcement personnel.
Issuing a stern warning and an advice to the Governor, the rapper noted that there will be an open invitation to chaos if the happy trigger police officer isn’t punished and the details of justice proceedings transparent for all to see.
He wrote: @jidesanwoolu @PoliceNG When we refused to leave the streets in October 2020, we were referred to as recalcitrant #EndSars youth that just wanted to make trouble. TWO YEARS after a panel made recommendations regarding those cases, they have still not been implemented..
Another man in police uniform took the life of a pregnant Bolanle Raheem on Christmas Day. If this person isn’t punished & all details PUBLISHED for everyone to see, I am afraid many will interpret that as an invitation to chaos. Humble advice.
Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sent a delegation to console the family of Bolanle Raheem, the female lawyer shot and killed by a polcieman on Christmas day.
The gesture was to reinforce his stand on justice for the deceased killed under the bridge at Ajah, Lagos.
Members of the delegation include Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Moyo Onigbanjo, SAN; Head of Service Muri Okunola, who signed the condolence register on behalf of the government; Women and Poverty Alleviation Commissioner, Mrs Bolaji Dada; Special Assistant to the Governor, Tubosun Alake, and Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
“We have the permission of Mr Governor to tell you that justice will be done in this matter. The matter will be charged to court as soon as the police send us the case file. I will be leading the prosecution to show the seriousness the government attaches to this matter,” Onigbanjo said.
Also speaking, Alake said the Governor urged the family to take heart just as he prayed that the Almighty would console the family.
The husband of the late Bolanle, Mr Gbenga Raheem, thanked Mr Sanwo-Olu for his empathy.
