Chatham House: What Peter Obi Said On IPOB’s Activities And Agitations In S/East

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has debunked claims of not addressing the issues of agitations in the Southeast if elected President of Nigeria.

CityNews reports that  Peter Obi while responding to questions at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, London, (Chatham House), during his address, on Monday, said all issues of agitation will be addressed.

According to the former governor of Anambra state, the issue of agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ended 53 years ago and he condemns it.

However, one has to look at their reasons for the agitations which he pointed out as the massive level of poverty and unemployment.

According to Peter Obi, all issues of agitation are the effect of leadership failure and will be solved by good governance.

He said: “ I spoke about Biafra being ended 53 years ago, it is all over the space I condemn all agitators. But in condemning them, you have to look at why all these agitators are all over the place it is not only IPOB, we have the Yoruba Nation movement and all sorts.

“When you have created a level of massive poverty, where 63% of your population is poor, you are going to create all sorts of problems.

“What you are seeing is a curative effect of leadership failure over the years which will be solved by good governance. The people start seeing good governance, justice, and fairness all those things will start reversing themselves.”
