Breaking: Police Invite Fani-Kayode For Questioning Over Coup Allegation
The Nigeria Police Force has invited the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, for questioning over a recent coup allegation.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign, Bayo Onanuga, made this known in a statement on Tuesday night.
Recall that Fani-Kayode had alleged in a publication that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and top military personnel met ahead of the forthcoming polls.
The APC PCC Director of Special Duties alleged the meeting was targeted at disrupting the general polls.
In a swift reaction, the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, criticized the report credited to the former Aviation Minister, denying that the military was never involved in such a meeting.
Following the military denial, the Department of State Services (DSS) officially invited the former minister for questioning, but was released on bail after six-hours of interrogation.
Fani-Kayode was, therefore, asked to return on Wednesday (today) for further interrogation by DSS investigators.
But according to Onanuga, the Federal Investigation Bureau (FIB) of the Police Force sent an invitation to Fani-Kayode on Tuesday night to appear at its headquarters for questioning on Wednesday.
