Governor Wike Opens Up On Alliance For 2023 Presidency, Says No More Relationship….
The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Friday disclosed that certain political alliances occurred for last Saturday’s presidential election in Nigeria.
Wike who spoke in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Friday hinted that the alliances took place to ensure federal power returned to the south in 2023.
The Rivers State Governor however failed to specifically disclose the parties he aligned with but appreciated Nigerians for supporting the return of power to the southern region.
He also mentioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP) as parties whose alliances ended with Saturday’s presidential election.
CityNews recalls however that the 2023 presidential election was won by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu who is a southerner and he got a sizable number of votes from Rivers State.
But Governor Wike while speaking in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital city when he joined his Oyo counterpart, Seyi Makinde in the commissioning of some projects said all alliances have ended with the presidential election.
He charged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to vote only for the party in the forthcoming governorship elections.
Wike said: “There is no relationship with anybody again. The only relationship we have on 11th of March is umbrella. Don’t hear any grammar again. The only grammar you can hear now is umbrella, nothing like broom. Broom ended last Saturday. Labour ended last Saturday. What will reign now is umbrella.”
G5 Did What Was Right
Wike added that the decision of the G5 Governors not to support the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar remains a step in the right direction.
He commended Governor Makinde and others for following through on their decision which he said is to defend the people.
“How you know people who defend the interest of his people no matter the pressure is that, you believe in a course, and you believe that you are justified, stand by the course, it doesn’t matter what the outcome will be and that is why I can come out happily.
“You can only belong to G5, stand your feet on the ground because you know what they are doing. It is only those who are afraid, who have nothing to offer that cannot stand firm, be bold and take a decision and say we must put things right no matter who is involved,” Wike said.
