Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a care package to victims of the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey.
The former Manchester United star has been deeply concerned by the tragic scenes that have left a huge death toll and severely impacted people’s lives.
And Ronaldo has sent a plane full of aid to the areas devastated by the disaster as he looks to help those affected, Daily Mail reports Sunday.
The Portugal legend has paid for tents, food packages, pillows and blankets, beds, baby food and milk and medical supplies to help aid the humanitarian effort.
There is hope Ronaldo’s gesture will encourage other sporting figures to follow suit in the coming days and weeks.
Footage emerged on Friday of Ronaldo greeting a young Syrian boy who said it was his dream to meet the ex-Real Madrid forward.
It is not the first time Ronaldo has made such generous donations.
Daily Mail gathered that Ronaldo once paid $83,000 (£68,000) to pay for child’s brain surgery and donated $165,000 (£154,924) to help fund a cancer centre in his native Portugal.
The forward, who has held ambassadorial roles for Save the Children, United Nations Children’s Fund, and World Vision, also donated £1million to Portuguese hospitals during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
Report says over 50,000 have died as a result of the earthquake disaster that has devastated towns and cities of the affected regions.
