Osimhen Grabs Brace As Napoli Thrash Frankfurt To Reach Champions League Quarter Finals
Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen grabbed a brace on Wednesday as Napoli thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 to reach Champions League quarter-final.
Napoli had won the first leg in Germany 0-2, to make it an aggregate 5-0.
The Nigerian striker opened scoring on first half added time. Matteo Politano got to the by-line and sent in a lofted ball. Osimhen climbed highest and powered a close-range header inside the right post.
Shortly before the goal, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had blown a clear opportunity to score a goal. He was one-on-one with Kevin Trapp inside the six-yard box and attempted to put the ball into the middle of the target, but was denied by a great save.
The gangling striker scored his brace on 53 minutes. Giovanni Di Lorenzo sprayed a pass out to Osimhen, and he had an easy job to slot the ball into an empty net.
A good pass on 58 minutes found Daichi Kamada in space inside the box, he looked up and drilled a low shot towards the middle of the goal, but the Alex Meret reacted superbly to deny him.
It was 3-0 for Napoli on 64 minutes after Piotr Zielinski made no mistake from the penalty spot after waiting for Kevin Trapp to move before slotting the ball low into the middle of the goal.
