Rivers State GovernorNyesom Wike has replied his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi over the claim that he spends N50 million from the state resources on alcohol every week.

CityNews Nigeria reported that the immediate-past Minister of Transportation had alleged that Wike spends N50 million from the state resources on alcohol every week.

The former governor of Rivers described his successor as a drunkard, who should not be allowed to waste taxpayers’ money on frivolities.

He stated this on Tuesday during the governorship campaign for the APC candidate, Tonye Cole, in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of the State.

Amaechi said the amount of money Wike spends on alcohol in two weeks, is almost equivalent to the amount he spent to build one primary school when he served as governor.

He, however, called on the people of the state not to allow the governor to have a third term through his stooge, and continue to waste state funds meant for development.

Speaking at a solidarity rally on Thursday in Port Harcourt, Wike said he would drink more instead of using state resources to destroy families.

The governor said Amaechi is angry that he wants to drink 40 years old whiskey to celebrate the victory of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Siminalaye Fubara.

He said, “Somebody said I spend N50 million to drink in a week, but it is better than spending the money to destroy homes. I like to enjoy myself. They are angry that I want to drink 40 years old whiskey to celebrate Fubara’s victory, this time I will bring 80 years old whiskey for the celebration.”

Wike claimed that Amaechi did nothing for Rivers State in eight years in office, stating that he as junior minister brought N500 million to two different institutions plus other things.
