The Lagos government has approved a conditional reopening of Chrisland High School in Ikeja.

Folasade Adefisayo, the commissioner for education, gave the order in a letter addressed to Chrisland school on Monday.

The directive came after Whitney Adeniran, a student of the Lagos school, died on February 9 during a sports event at Agege Stadium.

Blessing Adeniran, Whitney’s mother, accused Chrisland of holding back information on the cause of her death.

Consequently, the state ministry of education ordered a temporary closure of the school pending an investigation.

In the letter, Adefisayo said the education ministry has granted Chrisland High School Ikeja the green light to reopen for SS3 and JSS3 students.

“You are hereby informed that the Ministry has approved the reopening of your Ikeja campus to students of the terminal classes, i.e. JSS3 & SS3 only to enable them to prepare for their upcoming exams,” the letter reads.
