Controversial Nigerian singer, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly called Naira Marley, has distanced himself from the world’s deadliest terrorist group, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, ISIS.
The ‘I Am A Yahoo Boy’ crooner said though he is a Muslim, Islamic State does not represent him or his religion.
Naira Marley who is currently observing Ramadan tweeted on Tuesday: “I am a Muslim but ISIS does not represent me or my religion.”
The singer once influenced a cult-like movement called “Marlians.” His followers at that time were known for their wayward dressings and crazy lifestyles.
However, there was no report of violence by his cult-like fanbase.
The movement began to decline after Naira Marley’s fame and influence dwindled.
Marley now uses his social media pages to preach about religion and morality.
