FIFA Slams Worldwide Ban On Tottenham Managing Director Fabio Paratici
The world football governing body, FIFA has extended the ban placed on Tottenham Hotspur Managing Director, Fabio Paratici in Italy to have an effect across the world.
Fabio Paratici who joined Tottenham Hotspur from Juventus in 2021 was banned in Italy for 30 months as his former club, Juventus were found guilty of false accounting in January 2023.
The whole board of the Serie A club, including president Andrea Agnelli and vice president Pavel Nedved, were also banned in the country due to the crime committed during Paratici’s time at the club.
Juventus who are still fighting to return to the top four in the Italian Serie A were slammed with 15 points deduction due to the crime.
Fortunately for Fabio Paratici, the ban in Italy didn’t affect his new job in England initially. But that has changed following a statement from FIFA on Wednesday, March 29.
FIFA’s statement announced that the football authorities in Italy send a request to the world football governing body to extend the ban worldwide.
“Fifa can confirm that following a request by the Italian FA (FIGC), the chairperson of Fifa disciplinary committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have a worldwide effect,” the FIFA statement read.
In line with the request, Fabio Paratici is not expected to be involved in any football-related activities for 30 months, three of those months have already been spent at Spurs.
Paratici who was involved in sacking his countryman, Antonio Conte last week, could be forced to resign his role at the Premier League club with immediate effect.
As it the time of filing this report, Tottenham Hotspur have not made a public reaction to the new development.
