Police Give Portable 72-hour Ultimatum To Report Self
The Ogun state police command has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to Portable, the controversial singer, to report himself.
The ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner was in the public eye on Tuesday after a video of him lamenting that “Yahoo boy sent the police to arrest me”.
The 29-year-old also referred to himself as “a federal government liability”.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police spokesperson, said Portable was invited for questioning on five different occasions after a report was lodged against him.
Oyeyemi said the singer refused to honour the invitation. He added that the police approached a court to get an arrest warrant for him.
“We have also sent an invitation to him through his father like two times, yet he did not show his face,” the police spokesperson had said.
But in a new development, Oyeyemi confirmed that the three-day deadline was issued on Wednesday.
Oyeyemi said if the controversial singer born Habeeb Okikiola does not surrender himself, the police will “go after him.”
“Yes but his father has promised to produce him on or before Friday,” he said.
“So, we’re expecting him to show to up and if he doesn’t come, we’re going after him.
“Only then will he know that we have the wherewithal to get him because he is not bigger than the law.”
