EPL: Frank Lampard in shock return to coach Chelsea after Potter’s sack?
Chelsea co-owner, Todd Boehly could offer Frank Lampard the chance to return to the club as a caretaker manager, the UK Sun reports.
Lampard would be given a deal until the end of this season.
The former England midfielder was present at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, to watch the 0-0 draw against Liverpool.
Lampard has been out of job since was sacked by Everton in January, following a disastrous run of results which left the Toffees in the relegation zone.
The 44-year-old’s previous spell in charge of Chelsea ended after 18 months.
During his time at the club, he took the Blues to an FA Cup final and secured Champions League qualification, despite having to work under a ban that prevented him from signing any player for two transfer windows.
Chelsea are searching for a new permanent manager again after Graham Potter was sacked on Sunday and would prefer to carry out an exhaustive search for his replacement.
Boehly could yet turn to Lampard to steer the Blues through the remainder of the season until they get a new boss.
