Man Arrested In Ogun For Allegedly Exhuming 50 Human Skulls From Graves
The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force is reportedly investigating a man arrested for allegedly exhuming human skulls from graveyards.
The suspect, Gbesemehan Dewanu Solomon, was reportedly nabbed by community leaders in Ipokia in the Ipokia local government area of the state while trying to exhume more skulls from a grave.
Residents of the area have been lamenting that dead bodies could no longer rest in peace in the ancient town as unknown ritualists visit the graves and harvest their skulls.
It was alleged that over 50 human skulls had been removed from graves by the ritualists, who operated under cover of darkness. For Solomon’s arrest, Naija News learnt the Ipokia people did not depend on the police and other security agents but rose to get the culprits arrested.
It was gathered that their efforts paid off on Monday night when they arrested Solomon in an area called Idologun. The suspect was allegedly about to exhume a skull when the residents arrested him.
He was reportedly apprehended with a skull in his bag and the tools he uses in digging out the dry heads.
Confirming the arrest of the ritualist, the Onipokia of Ipokia, Oba Yisa Olaniyan, said the suspect had been handed over to the police. The traditional leader appealed to the Ogun State Police command to do everything necessary to fish out the accomplices of Solomon and those buying the skulls from him, saying “we must get to the root of this matter and everybody involved must face the law, no matter who they are.”
Oba Olaniyan disclosed further that human skulls were recovered from the man’s house when the police searched it.
