US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has met China’s President Xi Jinping as he wraps up a two-day visit to Beijing.
He earlier spent hours in meetings with Chinese top diplomat Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Qin Gang.
Blinken had planned to visit in February, but postponed the trip after the US shot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon.
After their meeting, Wang Yi said the root cause of poor relations was America’s “wrong perception” of his country.
China-US ties have steadily declined in due to trade conflicts, tensions over human rights, and Taiwan – among other issues.
Blinken is giving a news conference – you can watch by pressing play above.
