1. President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, in Abuja appealed to the organised labour to avail him more time to consider their grievances before embarking on any nationwide strike. This is just as indication emerged that the Federal Government may enforce the court order restraining the organised labour from embarking on a strike over the withdrawal of fuel subsidy in May.

2. A media aide to the Senate President, Jackson Akpabio, has stated that the authentic ministerial list of President Bola Tinubu will be unveiled today. He further urged Nigerians to stop speculating and wait for the unveiling of the nominees.

3. One person identified as Igwe Omeli was said to have been shot dead during a clash between rival cult groups at the popular Eke Awka market in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Wednesday. It was gathered that the victim was killed in a crossfire while members of the rival cult groups were engaging in a supremacy battle over the control of the market.

4. Operatives of the Benue State Police Command have arrested four suspected child traffickers operating around the Internally Displaced Persons camp located at North Bank, a suburb of Makurdi, the State capital. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Makurdi on Wednesday.

5. The immediate past national vice chairman (North West) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Mohammed Lukman has asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to “retract from illegal acts”. He said this in his resignation letter dated July 26, 2023.

6. Nigerien soldiers have announced taking over power from President Mohamed Bazoum, who has been in detention since the early hours of Wednesday. The soldiers announced the coup in a televised broadcast in the early hours of Thursday.

7. A special meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) holds on Thursday. This is coming amid a leadership crisis rocking the party.

The Senate on Wednesday rejected a proposal urging it to call on the Federal Government to use a “political solution approach” in freeing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu from detention. It rejected a prayer seeking to urge the Federal Government to obey court orders that granted bail to Kanu.

9. No fewer than three persons were reportedly shot dead on Wednesday when protests abruptly erupted at Ogbete Market in Enugu State. It was gathered that the protest by the traders followed the closure of some of their shops and offices by the State Government on Monday.

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, on Wednesday, said he reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise known as petrol, at his fuel station MYCA7 in Kano to help alleviate the hardship on Nigerians occasioned by the hike in the price of the petroleum product. Musa announced the reduction from N620 to N580 per litre via his Twitter handle on Monday.
