BREAKING: ECOWAS Impose Travel Bans, Other Fresh Sanctions on Coup Leaders
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has imposed fresh sanctions on the leaders of the coup in Niger Republic.
CITYNEWS NIGERIA reports that the sanctions, which were announced on Tuesday, include a travel ban and asset freeze on the coup leaders and their associates.
The disclosure was made by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngeale while addressing State House correspondents.
He said this was carried out through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
He, however, did not go into details.
The bloc had earlier given the coup leaders seven days to reinstate President Mohamed Bazoum or face further sanctions. However, the coup leaders refused to back down and even severed ties with Nigeria, Togo, France and the US.
